Although only present in small quantities, diamonds of all colors can be found in Central Africa; the colors are generally very nice and the stone purity is good. It is from this country that the majority of natural black diamonds originate. It is these diamonds that, offered by President Bokassa and wrongfully accepted by the French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, would have been the source of the latter's electoral defeat in 1984.
Types of diamonds produced in the Central African Republic:
Colorless, yellow, olive, pink, black, blue and green.
