During Sotheby’s Hong Kong auction on October 7th, the ‘Williamson Pink Star’ Diamond, a 11.15-carat fancy vivid pink diamond, was sold for 453.2 million Hong Kong dollars ($57.7 million). The value paid by a collector in Boca Raton, Florida for the pink internally flawless diamond was well above the $21 million pre-sale estimate.
The price per carat was around $5.2 million, setting a new record price per carat for any diamond or gemstone ever auctioned.
The buyer has renamed the stone “The Rosenberg Williamson Pink Star.”
