





The Pink Star has been sold for $71,2 million and Renamed CTF Pink Star

[Langerman Diamonds] The Pink Star, the largest internally flawless Fancy Vivid Pink diamond graded by the GIA, fetched a record-breaking $71.2m in Sotheby's Hong Kong auction.
The 59.60-carat diamond reached the highest price for any diamond or jewel ever sold at auction.
Henry Cheng Kar-Shun, chairman of Chow Tai Fook, made the HK$553 million winning bid for the Pink Star, ending a five-minute contest that included three phone bidders, Sotheby’s said Tuesday.
The jeweller Chow Tai Fook, founded in 1929, is the world’s largest jeweler, operating more than 2,000 stores throughout greater China. Chow Tai Fook renamed The Pink Star, The CTF Pink Star after the company’s initials.
The diamond has already been christened several times since it was unearthed in South Africa by De Beers in 1999: The Steinmetz Pink (2003), The Pink Star (2007), The Pink Dream (2013), the Pink Star (2013) & The CTF Pink Star ( 2017).
